Laser scanning produces a point cloud in space of the surface of the part. To make this usefull for design work or modifications requires these steps:
- Scan the part to generated the point cloud.
- Convert the point cloud to a mesh.
- Orientate the mesh to the correct design planes.
- Convert the mesh to design sketches and surfaces to generate a 3D parametric model.
